iPhone 15, 16 and 17 charge through USB-C, not Lightning. For fast charging, use a USB-C to USB-C cable with a 20W or stronger USB-C plug. At Ezone Repairs in Nuneaton the 20W USB-C fast charger is £14.99 and USB-C to USB-C cables are from £9.99.
Which cable for which iPhone
| iPhone | Charging port | Cable |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 15, 16 and 17 | USB-C | USB-C to USB-C |
| iPhone 5 to iPhone 14 | Lightning | USB-C to Lightning (fast) or USB-A to Lightning |
Will my old charger work?
- An old USB-A plug (the rectangular socket) works with a USB-A to USB-C cable, but charges slowly.
- A USB-C plug you already have works with a USB-C to USB-C cable. If it’s 20W or more, it fast charges.
Wireless and MagSafe
iPhone 8 and later also charge wirelessly, and iPhone 12 and later have MagSafe magnets that hold a MagSafe charger or power bank in place. See our power banks, including a magnetic MagSafe one.
Phone still won’t charge?
If a new charger and cable don’t help, the charging port may be blocked or damaged. See charging port repair: most take 30 minutes to an hour.
